Does Vonnegut ever explain the relationship between Bertram Copeland Rumfoord in Slaughterhouse Five and Winston Niles Rumfoord in Sirens of Titan? If not, do you have any plausible theories, or did KV just like the sound of the last name?

According to Kurt Vonnegut: A Critical Companion, they were members of the same family.

A better answer, I think, is that there's no real continuity between his uses of names. The Blue Fairy Godmother is always a different person, Kilgore Trout has an impossibly contradictory life story, and so on and so forth.
