can't get webpage to see its stylesheet

When I go to espn.com from work, I get a page that is completely unstyled. I can't make it refresh to see its stylesheet. I've cleared cache and flushed dns. At home, it's fine.

Also, from work imdb.com always brings up a page that says "no prefetching allowed" and offers a "continue" link, which brings up the same page. The only way to get to imdb is ctrl-F5. This doesn't have any affect on espn.com. Not sure if these two experiences are related. What's going on?

Your office probably uses a web proxy that is borking certain sites, this is not uncommon. There are two ways that places do this, setting a proxy server up in the browser or intercepting all web traffic and acting as a man in the middle to inspect the traffic. This is done to monitor employees internet use, cut down on bandwidth costs and increase security of the corporate wan/lan.

I had the same problem at work with a few sites. Check out your hosts file.

If you're using firefox, check your extensions, like adblock, to make sure they're not being overzealous in their blocking.

ESPN's CSS files aren't on the same server as the main page. Are you able to see this http://assets.espn.go.com/insertfiles/css/frontpage_1119a.css?

sanko -- now i'm at home, but i'll check tomorrow. Why would my company block the server with the stylesheet, but not the main page?
