AutoCAD help?

My boyf has a question for an AutoCAD hero. He wants to know why his 3d model appears in block color on the screen (see screen shot) – then plot only the ugly silhouette lines (see plotted version).

It's standard practice to plot line (silhouette) drawings. I don't use AutoCAD but Inventor and I can put a shaded (block colour) view onto the drawing so it prints out shaded, I'd be certain that you can do that from AutoCAD too, but by default it probably won't. Look for the options to plot shaded views.

Best answer: He needs to turn shade plot on in the viewport, Here is how to do it:

type mview (return)
s (for shade plot, return)
chose render type: (pick A,W,H,V, or R, return)
select object (pick viewport, return)

also type in : dispsilh and set it to zero (off) so you dont see those mesh lines.

Best of luck!

Sounds like Wezzlee has been there!

Here is the AutoDesk discussion group for future reference.

Response by poster: My boyfriend says thanks! Problem solved.

He also says he has a lot of trouble navigating the autodesk discussion groups.
