TV interviews in big movie moments?
November 8, 2007 1:25 PM   Subscribe

I'm looking for films where the climax of the story takes place during a live, on-camera television interview. The only one I can think of which comes close is "The Insider." Please help!

(By "climax" I mean the part of the story where the main conflict is finally resolved in some manner. Usually occurs towards the last ten or twenty minutes of the movie.)

It doesn't matter to me whether the films are based in fact or completely fictional.

Please note: I'm not looking for films where a merely important scene takes place during an interview. As much as possible I want movies where the big moment comes during a tv interview. I say "Insider" counts because the interview being broadcast is the moment where his story finally comes out, though I suppose it's up for debate.

Thank you for any recommendations!

On second thought, Network probably wouldn't qualify.

Little Black Book -- though by your defintion, not a whole lot is "resolved" -- it's just the point where the truth comes out. It is, however, the climax of the movie.

(And now so embarassed to be able to answer the question this way, I'm going to head home and castrate myself, as I should.)

Notting Hill?

I believe it's a televised press conference, but maybe that'll do.

In Broadcast News, the on-air interview is where William Hurt fakes his teary reaction, which is a pivotal plot point...

The climax of America's Sweethearts occurs during a press conference, also (well, I turned it on right when it was ending and it seemed to me that they were at a press conference).

What about Tommy Boy, where the main characters catch Dan Akroyd's character on a live TV interview and convince him to buy Callahan brake pads, thus saving the factory and becoming a hero?

Kings and Queen has a climatic reveal through an interview that subverts much of what you just watched for an hour and half. It's not exactly an news interview, but it does take place on a television screen with someone talking in a interview format.

"Hero," from the early 90s, with Geena Davis & Dustin Hoffman. I think the climactic scene is a live interview.

When Harry Met Sally ends with a video-taped interview as I recall. Not actually resolved perhaps, since that happens a bit earlier, but the final acceptance of the situation is certainly expressed by Billy Crystals expression.

The first thing that came to mind for me was Natural Born Killers (seconding Diskeater).
It has been awhile since I've seen it, though.

As I recall, that part was mostly a character sketch of The Media and the (perceived?) bloodlust of The Viewer.
