Wordpress and comment placement

WORDPRESS. I've asked in the forums. Least helpful place I've ever been. If anyone here is familiar with wordpress please tell me, how do I set it up so that the page the user sees when s/he goes to a permalink has a link to the comments popup at the bottom and not the damn comment area I've been trying to do this for days now.

I've been aimlessly editing various php files wp-comments.php, for example, in the hopes of stumbling upon the solution. I did find one, but it opened the comments in the same page and gave the comment sections for every post even though I used the right variable to get the path to the single post. Sadly, I know enough PHP to use it when it works. That's like saying I know enough history to avoid ordering a Black & Tan in an Irish pub.

Try IRC.

irc.freenode.net channel #wordpress.

Much nicer than the forums (which I won't touch), and you can talk directly with the developers.

ehh, i like the forums, but i don't know what you're asking grod. maybe don't use popups, as they are bad from a usability perspective, especially ones launched by javascript.

And yet, according to spec, all popups should be launched by javascript. Oh the wonderful world of web design.

Yeah, well. I care about usabilty, accessibilty, and all that good stuff, I really do. But when I'm making something for myself and a few people I know, I care about looks. Target audience is everything.
Thanks again, the question was answered quite quickly on irc. I'll go there in future.

You could always change to Movable Type.
