Looking for a new TV stand.

I'm looking for a new TV stand. I have some guidelines as to what I'm looking for, and I'm having a hard time finding something that meets them.

The TV stand I have in my bedroom now is too low for me, and I'd like to replace it with something taller. I got my current TV stand at Target about four years ago, and while it's served me well since then, it's time to retire it.

This is what I'm looking for:

  • 28 inches wide, at the most. My current stand just fits into the space it's in now (my room is kind of small), and even another half inch would be too wide.
  • Around 30 inches high. My current stand is 17 and a half inches high. 30 is about what I'm shooting for; that would put my TV at around eye level for most of the time I'm in here.
  • 15 inches deep. Right now, I'm rocking an old 20" TV/VCR combo. At some point in the not too distant future, I'm planning to replace this with a ~23 inch LCD, but that's a ways off yet.
  • Black. All of my furniture is black and silver, and I'd like to continue that trend. Furthermore, most of it is IKEA furniture--I worked there for awhile, and it suits my needs just fine. And I do so love my aesthetics.
  • A price of $80-100. I'm a poor college student, and this is about the ceiling of what I can spend.

I've taken a look at the websites of Target, Best Buy, and IKEA, but I can't find anything that suits my needs. Do any of you have/know of a TV stand that fits what I've outlined?

Response by poster: Oh, this should have been up there too:

  • Doesn't necessarily have to be a TV stand; I'm more than willing to reappropriate any other piece of furniture if it'll work.

I would look for a microwave cart. They are a bit smaller than your standard TV stand. Here is one at Target that is 34" tall, 20" wide, and 15" deep.

I wonder if there are different parts and pieces from other Ikea furniture that you could nail or screw together? It might be easiest and cheapest to just custom build it.

Response by poster: @Ostara: That's not a bad idea, actually. That one is a little too open and not quite wide enough, but I'll look into that for sure.

@lhall: I considered that, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to mix and match the parts I'd need. I guess I could swing over to IKEA later today and take a look at the spare parts.

Response by poster: Ended up going with this. Fits right on top of my old TV stand and looks great. Shame I didn't find this before I asked this question, but if anyone else is looking for something similar, maybe this will help them.
