Top favorites of the metafilter

Help me get started finding the best of metafilter! I would like to see what are YOUR favorite threads. They can be anything, lists of books, blacksmithing tips, cooking recipes, emotional help, humor, movies, science, health tips that have saved you! etc.
I'm new to the metafilter experience, as a member anyways and I have read the site extensively on almost a daily basis. The amount of information and help here is staggering and it just gets bigger every day. However I couldn't find a thread on what are your favorites of the metafilter.

This post was deleted for the following reason: If you'd like to post this in Metatalk instead, that'd be the place for it. AskMe isn't for mefi-related queries.
check this one out over at MetaChat about favorite threads

This doesn't belong here, sorry. You'll get reamed if you post this to MetaTalk as well, mainly because in the gray we all turn into a bunch of pricks (or elaborate on our prickish personae, if you will). Check out the popular favorites tab. Enjoy the site.

The elitist members/mods here will now ruin your life for posting this. Good luck and may God have mercy on your soul.

Response by poster: I didn't really see this question as a question about the website. I was shooting for more along the lines of what are your personal favorites as a member of this community. If I offended anyone I apologize for maybe being too broad on my question subject.

I dunno, languagehat: I think this is going to be deleted because it's chatfilter.

Have you tried clicking on "Favorites" and then "Most favorited?" Because, that's totally a site feature. Also, try clicking on the usernames of people you like, and seeing what they favorited. Because instead of asking me, you can just do that. Really.

Response by poster: ... I understand about the favorites and the popular favorites gang =) Really. I was attempting to get people to go back over THEIR favorites and maybe link and explain why this link had helped them. Yes I know if I want to see your profile I can click on your name etc. I was expecting more of a "Hey this is my favorite link about basket weaving here ever since I found this I have made all kinds of gifts for my family."
Or "Welcome to the community! My favorites are this this and this, the first one (macgyver survival kit) really can into use when the California wild fires made me flee my house."
