Where to find archival sports data for traditional and non-traditional sports?

Does anyone know where I can find archival play-by-play/round-by-round data on head-to-head competitions? In addition to the usual football and baseball data, I'm interested in whether there are any good data on the web for golf, horse-shoe pitching, bowling, rock-paper-scissors, etc.

Archival of play-by-play chess matches is so common that they invented a custom data format to describe the games.
