Copy of Vikings/Dallas game?

When was this football game and how can I get a copy of it? The game was Minnesota Vikings vs. Dallas Cowboys, sometime in the the mid 1970's, I think. It remains the most unusual game I have ever seen, with Minnesota doing many innovative and strange things to confuse Dallas, like lining up all to the right of center, passing on all four downs, etc. Anyone who saw this game would remember how unusual it was.

I suggest contacting NFL Films.

email the "Common Man" at KFAN in minneapolis, he would be able to get better specifics for you as far as details which game, etc. It seems to me if you could say "I need the December 14, 1977 game between MN and Dallas."

A few years ago my parents got a copy of the Dallas Cowboys game on the day I was born in 1979 (long story). They got it from some guy who apparently has an archive of tons of old games on tape. I'll contact them and see if they still have his info.

It probably won't be that helpful unless you figure out when the game was, of course.

Well, the Vikings are in the NFC Central and the Cowboys in the NFC East. They won't necessarily play each other in a given season. The NFL History site has one-paragraph game synopses:

1972: Did not play each other.
1973: Met in NFC Championship; Vikings over Cowboys 27-10.
1974: Played October 6. Vikings over Cowboys 23-21.
1975: Met in NFC Divisional Playoff. Dallas over Minnesota 17-14.
1976: Did not play each other.
1977: Opening day game. Dallas, 16-10. ALSO NFC Championship on New Year's Day. Dallas, 23-6.
1978: Met October 6. Minnesota, 21-10.

the 1975 Division Championship game is memorable, but it's because of the 'introduction' of the Hail Mary pass by Roger Staubach for Dallas...

Could you give any more information about the game?
