I'm looking for a very simple self-hosted blogging/CMS tool. Are there any that don't require a database or CGI on the server?

PT Site looks like it would work, if you have PHP. If you don't have PHP, I would advise just using Blogger.

Blosxom (No db and can either run as a cgi or be used to generat static files from the command line.)

Blosxom.PHP -- like Blosxom, but without the CGI. Also see PHPosxom. You'll need to look at the projects to see which is better for you. I've only used the CGI Blosxom.

I use blogger on my space and not their blogspot--i think all it does is generate html pages (current and archives, plus an atom xml page) and send those.

There was this standalone windows app called "Blog" that used to be here that was very simple and required nothing but some webspace with ftp access. If you're interested, I could try to find a copy of the installer on my computer when I get home.
