Photography Excursion(s) in Albany, NY

I've got time for three photo excursions when I visit Albany, NY the first week in October. Where do I go?

I'm teaching a class in Albany, NY Oct. 1-5, but I'm taking some days on either side of that to take a bunch of pictures. I'll have a half day on Saturday, the entire day Sunday, and a half day the following Saturday. I'll have a rental car, and I'm not afraid to use it. I want to get some nature shots in the Adirondacks, but I don't know where, and I know there are other cool areas too. Any suggestions on where I should go (or fun things to do during the week in Albany)? Thanks!

Lake George is about 45 minutes north. That could have lots of opportunities. Also, the Berkshire mountains are about an hour east. I don't think they will be in the full swing of leaf-changing by then, but MAN are they beautiful.

I don't know if it's what you're looking for but I'd check out downtown Saratoga one night, usually full of good people and some great food. Just walk around and enjoy the scenery or sit outside at a cafe and get some coffee. If you want some quick fried fish, shrimp or other seafood one night I'd recommend Harbor House in Clifton Park, its about 20 minutes north but very good. I'm also seconding Lake George and Berkshire.

Send me a message if you want some more recommendations for food in the area.
