I was just going to come in and suggest the Yotel, actually, but can you tell us a little more about your plans? Will you be coming from elsewhere in the UK and leaving really early, or are you flying in from abroad to Luton/Heathrow/Stansted and then transiting to Gatwick? And how much money is too much? posted by mdonley at 10:15 AM on August 9, 2007
Thanks for the info.
Am flying in from Washington Dulles, USA.
Trying to find something close to Gatwick as my next day flight is Early and want something for 100-150 USD a night. posted by jek at 11:07 AM on August 9, 2007
Beware the hotels close to the airport. My wife and I had one night in London before an early morning flight, and ended up spending about $400 for a room (near Heathrow). I'm still burning from the injury. Like the others before me, I would investigate the Yotel. Might be worth your while. posted by malaprohibita at 11:11 AM on August 9, 2007
A Yotel standard cabin would fit that price range, plus, you book by the hour after a main 4hr chunk, so if you're out by 6am you don't need to pay for any longer. A premium cabin would only just exceed your limit. Seriously - it's been getting quite a bit of news coverage here (and over there) and it might be fun to turn a boring "night in transit" into an experience in itself... posted by game warden to the events rhino at 11:15 AM on August 9, 2007
If the Yotel is too weird/small/trendy for you, here's the Travelodge Gatwick for £39/night (I didn't know when you were going, so I just chose a random day in September). Linked to the airport via £3 shuttle. posted by mdonley at 11:26 AM on August 9, 2007
Thank you all. Love the Yotel! Perfect, looks like a great way to kickoff my vacation! posted by jek at 11:45 AM on August 9, 2007
