70s aliens hate sous chefs

What's the name of this late 70s/early 80s low budget scifi movie?
I don't remember much of it except for this scene where a woman is in the kitchen cutting vegetables then, for whatever reason, the aliens make her either cut her wrists or cut off her fingers. She looked very calm, walked outside with her bloody hands and joined the neighbors looking up at a glowing white UFO.
I was just a kid and remember being freaked out at the wrist cutting scene and I guess I blanked out everything else that happened. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Response by poster: I think that's it. This has been bugging me for years. Thanks a bunch!

There are a bunch of clips from this movie on YouTube. The vegetable chopping scene is at the start of this video clip. The acting is hilariously bad in this clip titled "A Family of Bad Actors Gets Abducted by Aliens".

I totally remember my cool aunt taking me to see this on a Saturday matinee when I was seven. Part of a double feature with Message from Space, if I recall correctly. It was the first time I ever tried Junior Mints.
Starship Invasions had a totally kick ass musical score which, sadly, does not appear to be available.

Slarty, you are right about the score, it was awesome. Really heightened the creep factor for me. I think this one and John Carpenter's soundtrack stuff was what got me interested in film scores.
