A Garmin newbie question about Mapsource unlock codes

I just purchased a Garmin 370. It came with two Mapsource unlock codes. My question is how do I use these codes? The device did not come with any media containing the PC version of their mapsource software. Are these only good after I purchase additional mapping software from them ?

As you're just starting out with Garmin software you might like to know about Geodude's website. It's got lots of useful resources for those starting out with GPS.
