ABBAFilter: Has anyone done a DECENT 'hard' cover (or a remix) of an ABBA song? I'm thinking similar to what Marylin Manson did to 'Tainted Love'? Yes I've no taste.
I'm particularly looking for metal/hard/rock/whatever covers/remixes of Money Money Money and Voules Vous.

Your two adjectives leave a lot of wiggle room, but this link may get you started.

Another place to explore. I got there looking for that Abbasalutely record that Flying Nun (New Zealand alternative/lofi/sortakindaallovertheplace indy label that my brother was really into) because I sorta kinda remember some stuff on the harder end in that, but it's been a while and I can't remember the specifics.

If you can find it, Mischief Brew (a Pennsylvania folk-punk band fronted by Erik Petersen) did a riveting punk-rock cover of Money Money Money at Hallowmass 2005 (a NYC music festival).

Yngwie Malmsteen did "Gimme, gimme, gimme" It seriously rocks. You should definitely try to get your hands on it.

Yes, there's a heavy metal tribute to abba, and it's good. As you can see, Gimme! and Voulez-Vouz are on there. Also, the Tad Morose cover of Knowing Me, Knowing You - aces.

(Sinergy, who do the Gimme cover includes guitarist Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom, and he eats that sweepy arepggiated theme alive.)

Lush did a cover of Hey Hey Helen. Is it rockin'? Depends on your definition.
(Tangential: the intro to Elvis Costello's "Oliver's Army" has an obvious, and acknowledged, influence from "Dancing Queen".)

The Yayhoos did a deliciously sloppy southern rock version of Dancing Queen on the album "Fear Not The Obvious." I found a YouTube video from a live perfromance.

Have you heard of Gabba? ABBA songs performed in the style of the Ramones.

New Zealand label Flying Nun put out Abbasalutely in 1995 - an album of ABBA covers by bands on their label. I think Headless Chickens version of Super Trouper would do the trick for you. Yep, it's pretty ghastly.

The Mad Caddies do a version of SOS on their EP "The Holiday's Have Been Cancelled."
(And very good it is too.)

Maybe not your cup of tea, but I do like the A-Teens' remix of Dancing Queen.
