Searching for Blogs on Google

Has finally Google begun shunting blogs out of their results, or lowering them in their ratings? [more inside]

Last week a search for certain terms brought my blog up as the # result. Today I do the same search and I have to wade through pages and pages to find me...

My blog Tastes Like Chicken recently stopped being the number one return for that phrase. Dropped all the way to number two, or even three, depending on how you count. Oh, the humanity.

Assuming it's not an issue of them blocking Blogger/MT ect.......

Since the content of your blog (the stuff getting indexed) will change everyday it's not hard to imagine that your ranking will change every time Google comes through. Even if it's the archived stuff, Google may churn the ranking since your front page has changed.

When the Quizno's commercial came out with the little rat critters I spent some time trying to stay in the top ten for "quizno's rats. Which was very successful, but my placing would change every day as the key words worked their way down my homepage. And I found I could bump the ranking up just by doing another post about quizno's rats.

Google seems to have a lot more churn than they did a year ago.

I've got "troutfishing" cornered. I'm unworthy! Unworthy, I say!

Response by poster: Thanks, folks. Last week my name, no quote marks, just first and last, brought up my blog as #1 result. Now it is something like the page 6 result, heh. My blog's name is still #1 and always will be. It's no biggy, as I really don't care much about my blog. But it's big-time puzzling, you know?

Response by poster: Nevermind. I'm back up there in the top two, searching by name. I had no idea Google fluctuated so much, and it still boggles me, though.
Not that I Google myself constantly, either...
