Windows Vista Mail - My Google Fu has failed - How do I download headers only in POP mode?

I want to be able to download on the headers in Windows Vista Mail (the Outlook Express replacement). Is this possible. Was it ever possible or am I crackers? Just download the headers and decide which emails to view after that using my regular POP email account...

I don't think the mail part of Outlook Express ever allowed that. It has always downloaded the entire message, as far as I know.

The newsreader just downloaded the headers, though. Might that be what you are thinking of ?

FWIW, the POP3 protocol does have an optional command "TOP (messagenumber) (countbodylines)" that can be used to retrieve the message headers.
