Sharing DSL

How do I share a MSN DSL connection between multiple computers? The DSL Modem is a NetDSL 800, and I'd like to be able to connect each PC to the DSL independently (Not with 'internet sharing'). PC's are XP, and I already have a router to use (and plenty of experience routing on DSL with static IPs).

Connect the router and the dsl modem. You'll use a Cat5 cable between the modem's only cat5 port and the port labeled "WAN" on the router. Plug all the PCs into the other router ports using Cat5.

All the PCs should be set to use DHCP. Remove any assigned IP addresses.

Log into your router to set it up. This is usually accomplished by opening a web browser up and pointing it to http://192.168.0.1 The only thing you should have to change on the router is to tell it the static IPs it will be using (it's own IP plus the DNS server IP).

That should be it. You may have to remove the previous network connection and add a new one on the PCs, but XP is usually pretty good about that sort of thing.

Ditto everything above, but Linksys routers (the one's I've used anyway) are http://192.168.1.1.
