What do iPodServices and IFTPservice do? How can I kill the processes?

I finally got around to upgrading my 2nd gen Ipod's (PC) firmware to version 1.3 .
All went well, but now I found "IPodService" running full time as a process and access is denied in task manager when I try to shut it off so I can delete it. Whats it do? How do I kill it? (same goes for "IFTPservice")

(I'm running win2k sp4)

In my experience, this service only runs when your iPod's connected. You can kill it after that. I'm using a 1st gen iPod on an XP SP1 machine.

If you're really upset, (giggle) buy a Mac.

Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and look for processes with those names and descriptions. You can right-click on a process to bring up its Properties, and from there stop and/or disable them. If it's necessary for interfacing with your iPod, you'll probably want to set the Startup type to Manual.

I've noticed this process runs on my machine (Win XP Pro) - and I don't even own an iPod. It seems to be part of iTunes.

Yeah, that annoys me, I got iTunes right when it was released for Windows and then found it was running stuff in the background all the time (even when I hadn't started iTunes since the last time I started my computer) without any indication (such as a taskbar icon) that it was doing so. Then I uninstalled iTunes.
