CD covers easy and on the cheap

I need a simple, free way to make CD covers on both Mac and Windows machines (more inside).

I've found plenty of software available on a trial basis, but no simple and intuitive shareware. Any recommendations will be hugely appreciated.

By cover do you mean the paper that slips into the jewel case or do you mean the actual CD itself?

iTunes will print jewel case-sized inserts for any playlist (if that's what you need the cover for).

And Clutter will find the cover for you online (usually from Amazon) and allow you to copy it into iTunes.

Ah, yes - sorry if that was unclear.

Hugh Jorgan's link here seems like a champ - I'm off to try it now!

Response by poster: Hmmm ... the papercdcase.com idea is a great one, but I'm looking for something that offers a bit more flexibility in terms of the types of cases you can make inserts for. The quest continues.
