Looking for a quiet-click mouse.

Is there such a thing as a "quiet (computer) mouse" - one that has silent clicks?

Hi, all. I'm looking to buy a new PC mouse, and I want one that makes little-to-no noise when clicking. I ran a few searches here, on Google, and on Amazon, but couldn't find what I'm looking for. Ideally, I'd prefer a wireless trackball, but at this point, I'd take a plain ol' wired laser w. a scroll wheel.

Alternatively, if there's a way to quiet the clicking of a "regular" mouse, without damaging it, of course, I'd love to hear your suggestions.

Thanks!

have you seen thanko's silent mouse? every other silent mouse i've found seems to be older... think ps2 and serial connectors. this one seems relatively modern.

Well I'll be damned... Thank you, sxtxixtxcxh - I hadn't seen that one!

Thanks, Papa Mango, for "plan B."

If anyone has used Thanko's Silent Mouse, I'd love to her your review!

A do it yourself link. Comments on that page may be helpful as well.

offering another suggestion: how much do you hate laptop-style trackpads? if you're OK with them, you might look at using one of those. you can get a Cirque SmartCat USB trackpad deal for around $70 or so (on froogle). I had an ADB one for a Mac a long time ago; you could turn on tap to click and never use the actual buttons (except for right-click).

I use the stylus of a small wacom tablet instead of a mouse at home. I like to draw, which is why I bought it, but I got to using it all the time. It's quiet and I like it.

Seconding the Cirque track pads. They are great.
