Can you recommend a relatively easy to use, customizable web portfolio template that I can easily update and reorganize to show my illustration work?

I have basic html skills, and my dreamweaver-made web portfolio is not dynamic, and it's difficult to edit. I'd like something more like how my flickr site works , so that I could add to it, reorganize it, and update it quickly without having to code...and I'd like more freedom to tweak it's look. The closest thing to what I'm looking for is Rik Catlow's great site. Some illustration promotion sites have relatively easy to update and reorganize image galleries, but they usually have fixed designs and charge for their use. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I recommend using a plugin with WordPress to import your Flickr pictures - it's the best solution I've come to after building sites for many illustrators with just these requirements. You only have to upload your images in one place, and you can find very nice and easily customizable templates for WordPress nowadays. FAlbum and FlickRSS are great plugins. My contact info is in my profile if I can help.

Combining Flickr with Lightbox makes a nice solution. Seen also here.

Looking at Rik Catlow's site I could tell right away that's it run on WordPress, and is a riff on one of the more popular WP themes—sorry I can't be more specific, I do my work with Movable Type! No doubt someone else will be able to point you to the specific one.

Have you considered smugmug?
Erika Thorpe.

Or Vox? Doodle Nation.

Or Big Black Bag? Zachary Mason.

And Drawn links to dozens of talented artists; you should browse there and perhaps you'll find some ideas by seeing what other illustrators use.
Good luck!
