The Perfect Day!

Help me give my fiancée the best 'awesome day' ever…

So, my fiancée is like crazy wonderful. He is constantly doing kind, considerate, and amazingly fun things for me/with me. He has been working a ton the last couple of months and still comes home full of fun and enthusiasm. I really appreciate everything he does day to day for me and I want to do something really special for him. So I am throwing him an ‘awesome day’ day. I asked him to figure out some things that he would want to do on a perfect day and write them down, and then I will do everything I can to make these things happen in one wild and crazy day of fun. However, I want to add in a few unexpected surprises of awesomeness throughout the day. I would love to hear your ideas for special gestures/activities/silliness/gifts that would make a best day even better. To give you a little background, we are in our early twenties and live in Minneapolis. He loves metal, books, board games, beer (I think we are going to the Summit Brewery for sure), animals, and me! Thanks for your help!

For board games and beer, try an evening at the Chatterbox. It is a cool place, and meets two of your criteria at once.

I assume you have the big ideas covered. But the little things add up too! Here are some ideas...

Add in some sort of treasure hunt at the end of the day, leading to some treat (possibly you!) Leave notes and clues in places.

Make a mix CD or buy a new album of some of the metal artists he likes...will be good listening on the way to the zoo/skydive/brewery.

Send him an eCard to receive in his inbox in the morning.

Leave an iTunes gift card on the keyboard for him to discover.

When he is in the shower, throw his towels in the dryer and leave them for him so that they'll be all warm and inviting when he steps out.

Make a bunch of stupid bets throughout the day and tally up the winning points for prizes later.

Whatever present you may give him, download some pictures of stuff he likes, hobbies, etc. Throw the pics on a page, make 'em large. Print the pages and use 'em to wrap the gift. It's incredibly easy, and people always think you went to great lengths to find custom paper. haha.

I think no 'awesome day' in minni is complete without a walk around the sculpture garden. You should hide a cool present or maybe some food that he likes in the bushes somewhere and while you're walking around lead him to it somehow.

My most memorable date was actually a combination of the first two: zoo + sex. No, not with the animals. Sick bastards.

seconding the sculpture garden. If you're planning this for this weekend, the sculpture garden would be awesome what with all the snow. If he's into outdoorsy stuff, you could try to find a place to rent some snowshoes, or skis and hit the trails. I've always been a fan of outdoor skating as well.

You could buy him a gift cert. to a cd store and you can go get some cd's then listen to them. The Electric Fetus has a brand new metal section (it's pretty small though). If you're into art museums, you could then trek on over to the MIA a few blocks away.

If neither of you is too bashful, you could go to Sex World and buy some goodies for later.

You could request a song dedicated to him at his favorite radio station, to be played in a particular time range when you're planning on being in the car or listening to the radio. They probably won't play it, but if they do, it'd be really neat.

An awesome day should also always include making something together. It can be cooking/baking, making a snowman, doing art together, whatever. Just think of something that you can both enjoy making together.

Yes, lots of sex. Buy yourself some hot new lingerie ahead of time to surprise him with.

Make his special meal and/or dessert. Bonus if you make it whilst wearing your new lingerie. Trust me.

It's an old joke, but here's a man's perfect day vs. a woman's.

I've been to Summit Brewery. I showed up on a Sunday morning in college and a guy named Percy was there making coffee to help his hangover. He let us in, told us we could look around if we wanted to, and pointed us to the tap room for complimentary beers. Best brewery tour ever!

You should offer him a no judgement fantasy. Something where you set up qualifications (no third person, or tickling). Then you set the stage in a way that he is comfortable expressing his secret desires to you. You could open an example of something that you would gladly do (beat him with a spoon, or tickle his nickel) to help him let down his guard. Then (now this is key) keep an open mind and a straight face, then get out rubba sheets!

I suggest that you start the day with the sex instead of planning to end the day with it. It would be a huge bummer to have "awesome day" end with "fatigue-induced erectile dysfunction". Also, afterwards you can take a long shower together to get the day started, and that's fun!
