Automatic iPod Settings?

A fairly simple iPod/iTunes question—when I plug in the iPod, I would like the browser on iTunes to automatically be there (so I don't have to press apple + b), and I'd like it to be arranged by album, by year (so I don't have to click the "year" field every time). Is this possible? Is there a setting that I'm missing?

iTunes used to remember this, I believe. Complain on Apple’s forums or file a bug report and the functionality might get put back in. There might be a way to hack iTunes’ preference file, but I glanced at it and have little idea how to make that happen.
