Temporary Accommodations in Denver

I'm moving from the Big D to mile high D: Dallas to Denver. I'm intending to buy a place but in the interim want to find a reasonably priced - preferrably furnished - apartment. Read more
I close on my home in Dallas at the end of this month. My plan is to rent a place (w/ my wife and cat - two separate entities). I would like to stay in temporary accommodation for 2 - 3 months while we house hunt (and / or pop the top on a home). The furnished variety that I've found on line (your typical corporate affair) are 3k+ a month. I can find a nice unfurnished place for around 1.2k with a 3 month lease but that means moving in part of our furniture and setting up utilities etc.
Do any Denver mefis have knowledge of a source of more economical, furnished alternatives to corporate apartments? Preferrably close to downtown (where I will be working). Wash Park, Cherry Creek etc. obviously would be great. Thanks for anything.

Response by poster: FWIW - I'm already on top of craigslist and rent.com. I'm more after Denverites' inside knowledge.

Best answer: I'd start with looking at the apartment/housing listings on craigslist and then searching by 'furnished' : Furnished Apartments in Denver as listed on Craigslist.
Looking through the list, there's a surprisingly good range of prices and while not everything is downtown, there's a pretty good selection. Denver defines sprawl, so you're going to definitely need a car to get around (although you're probably used to that if you're coming from Dallas).

If you are truly looking for economical I have a friend who lives in a furnished apartment in Capital Hill for cheap (and she is on a month-to-month rental agreement). Personally, I would look in the Capital Hill area which is right next to downtown--but, maybe parts of Capital Hill are too impoverished for what you are looking for. Cherry Creek and Wash Park are high dollar in my book. Best of luck...and welcome to the Mile High City, it is a good place.
