Bangkok Tailors

I'm leaving for Bangkok in a few days. Although there's info online already , I'd like MeFi specific recommendations on good tailors. I'm looking for business & casual clothing. I am fashion-challenged, so any advice on materials, cuts, and what clothes look good on a not-very-tall guy are appreciated as well.

P.S. I saw the askme question about online Thai tailors already. I'm looking for the in-person variety & have several days to get fitted.

I'd recommend the same tailor I linked to in the other AskMe -- they aren't really an "online" tailor, although they do some work by email. I haven't been there personally but I know people who have and they were very happy. Check out the USA Today article about them. Unfortunately the tailors I went to in BKK, before I heard about Rajawongse, were not so good.

If cost is not an object, the finest tailor in town is Art's Tailor at 62/15-6 Soi Thaniya, Silom Road. It's not one of your 3-suits-for-$150-one-measurement-ready-tomorrow type of establishments but will take the time to discuss your requirements and concerns and then make sure that your clothes are perfectly fitted.

(any chance you'd be willing to walk into a Bangkok Bank while in Thailand and pick up a calendar for me? I'll gladly reward you and reimburse you for your shipping costs)

This thread looks useful. I went to Nickermann's and got a suit and some shirts - I thought they were pretty good.

I'm not very tall myself - I just made sure I got as minimalist a suit as possible (no flaps, turnups etc) and it looked great.

Last year, my boyfriend went to "Boss" on Soi Rambuttri, the smaller, quieter version of nearby Khao San Road.

He absolutely adores the suit he bought there. Top quality and fits like a dream. The owners are Burmese and Indian, and the suit was made from Italian cashmere/wool. Thus, it's a Thai Burmese Indian Italian suit. Beat that!
