I want a new theme, one that does what it should.

Help me find the perfect theme for my Wordpress blog.

I'm craving a redesign of one of my blogs (no self-link, but it's the music blog you can find through my profile). Here's the rub: I suck at CSS. I'm a pretty smart guy, but I find it to be largely indecipherable. Haven't broken the code yet.

I love the look of Lifehacker, and that general feel - light colors, rounded corners, fonts, cleanliness, etc. I've spent a lot of time looking at WP themes, and they all feel dated to me ... can you suggest a great theme, with the feel of LH, but perhaps more suited to a music blog?

I would suggest using a K2 theme, perhaps something like this one. Or here, or even here...

It may not be precisely what you're looking for, but you may want to take a look at my question on the subject. Lately I've also been liking Cutline which is what mathowie uses on another blog.

Thanks for the heads up ... from your question, I learned about Canvas, which looks to be pretty incredible ...

My experience with K2 was pretty negative, by the way - seemed to make the page much slower to load.

Even if your CSS knowledge is limited, you can grab templates from TemplateWorld or FreeCSSTemplates or OpenSourceWebDesign or OpenWebDesign or TemplatesBox. A good way to learn is to take a simple layout and change around the existing divs one section at a time. Swap some hex values and some images here and there and you should be able to customize your own theme.
