Name that movie!

Identify this 60s-era movie: the movie revolves around a man-made statue of a Greek god (Poseidon?) that stands with one foot on each side of a channel. He holds a giant vat of molten lead for the purpose of dumping on enemy/hostile ships that pass beneath him.
- The movie looked like it was made in the early 60s.
- Story takes place in Greece.
- There was some kind of love story in which the female love interest ends up getting captured and held somewhere in the head of the statue.
- At the end of the movie, the hero battles the villain on the shoulders/arms of the statue, I believe.
- I saw this movie late at night on one of the Turner channels (TCM?) a long time ago.
Unfortunately that is all I can remember about it. I would be able to recognize the title if someone mentioned it, so name away :)
Thanks

I've seen Colossus of Rhodes on the cable guide a few times. It usually shows up on AMC or TCM. I took special notice because it was a Sergio Leone film that he did before he started making his spaghetti westerns.

I haven't seen the movie, either, but in case you were wondering: the Colossus of Rhodes was a real statue (of Helios, the Sun God).
