This Funny-Money Isn't That Funny

FontFilter: what's the font in which the word "Gutschein" is written on this concentration camp money?
It's so...inappropriately...jaunty, I guess?

What The Font can't really seem to see it very well. It's only picking up on the giant white letters in the background.

And IdentiFont thinks it's Seersucker Outline, which ain't even close.

I think it is clearly hand-drawn. This gif compares the two versions of "cent" from the note. They are the same style as "Gutschein". You can see they aren't similar enough to be from a pre-computer typeface. Note especially the width of the "C" and the diagonal of the "N":

The site itself seems to indicate that it is hand-drawn in that the prisoners themselves often did the work.

I know it was probably hand-drawn, but I was hoping it was based on a real font. It looks great.

If anyone makes a font based on this, I'll buy it. I recommend you name it something like "Gallows Humoresque", in homage its lightheartedness in the face of the Holocaust.

To amend my question a little, is there an extremely similar font?

You're right, it is! Too bad they don't make it in an outline, that's really similar. It's a lot blockier, sterner, and less carefree than what I want though.

Yeah, those kicky little serifs really make the difference. If it helps at all, I found that by searching for 1940s fonts.
And if all else fails, make someone draw it for you and fontify it.
