The Shining: filmed on a 1.37:1 negative for display on a 1.33:1 TV or matting to 1.85:1 in theater
(see 1, 2, 3 and many other sources). So why does my PC's DVD player grab screenshots at 1.50:1?
I have the Warner Bros. DVD of the film with the notice on the back "This feature is presented in the full aspect ratio of the original camera negative, as Stanley Kubrick intended." So why aren't the screengrabs at 1.37:1? The screengrabs are all 720x480, or 1.50:1.
I have a 1.33:1 monitor and am using WinDVD, if that matters.
