Log Cabin Rental (In Michigan)

I'm in S.E. Michigan and looking to rent a log cabin for a weekend with some friends. Aiming for Sept 16/17. Do you have a good place you think we should look at? Or know where I can I get any reviews of log cabin rental places?

(Tried hrvparkreviews.com and michcampgrounds.com... not much help - and my google fu is failing me.)

Hoping for something clean and good for first-timers. (Even if that takes away from the "outdoors" feel of the trip.)

And ideally it would be close to water and within 2 hours or so of the Detroit area - a bit more is ok too.

I've had good luck with rented cabins that I found at cyberrentals. The ones I've tried have been in New Hampshire, but they have worldwide listings. They don't have reviews, but they have pictures and descriptions. I've tended to narrow it down to a few top choices, and then I've called each owner to ask specific questions.

(Just now, I typed in Michigan Log Cabin, and it had 32 results, but I couldn't figure out how to link in to that page, so you'll have to type in the search you want.)

I would recommend looking around up in the Thumb - I grew up there (and now live in Detroit). It's approximately 2 hours from the Detroit area (straight up Van Dyke) and surrounded by Lake Huron on all sides. There are probably some cabin rentals in Harbor Beach, Caseville, or Port Austin - they may not be Log cabins, but rustic enough for me... I found a few listings on this site, but I can't speak to their above-boardness. This is a prime time of year to go though - all the regular tourists are pretty much gone after Labor day, so you may find a good deal, and the weather should be a bit cold, but still nice.

We stayed here several nights on our honeymoon--In Good Hart north of Harbor Springs on 119 (one of the most beautiful drives in the US) and on Lake Michigan--Good luck

Harbor Springs is a good five hours away.

The best site that I have seen is Great Rentals (Michigan), which usually has very good listings. And don't forget rentals across the border - see Great Rentals (Ontario)
