Rockin' with the King of Babylon
July 31, 2006 9:16 AM
Did I imagine this song from the 80's?
There's this song I remember. Definitely from the 1980's. The lyrics go something like:
Hey little girl, you can't go wrong
rockin' with the king of Babylon.
Hey little girl, all night long
rockin' with the king of Babylon
and so on.
Unfortunately, the single google hit I get for these lyrics is some random myspace page. But I swear I remember hearing this song numerous times on WLIR (well before it turned into WDRE and started to suck), and, later, on an episode of Miami Vice.
Please hope me!

A slightly modified search (+"king of babylon" +"miami vice") yielded several mentions of "King Of Babylon" performed by David Johansen. There's a short preview on this page (track 4).

Don't forget that he played the villain in the Hulk Hogan/Sherman Hemsley vehicle Mr. Nanny. Strange career indeed.

Hulk Hogan/Sherman Hemsley vehicle.
I'm just gonna let that phrase soak in for a bit. Maybe the terror will subside.

And according to Rolling Stone, he's reprising his role in the NY Dolls on a new album . . . He's not nearly as cute a girl as he used to be
