Name That Classic Russian (Soviet?) Film

Do you know this classic Russian (Soviet?) film?
About 12 or 13 years ago, Bravo showed an old Russian (Soviet?) film that I caught only part of. All I remember was beautiful black and white cinematography and knights lined up, ready for battle. It looked like it took place on the steppe in medieval times. Other than knowing that it's *not* Andrei Rublev that's about all the info that I have. I know it's a huge stretch, but I'm hoping that some of you artsy-fartsy types know this film. +5 Internet Points if you can name it.

I'm thinking you're all wrong, and it's the unjustly neglected masterwork «Любовь и Смерть».
Oh wait, you said "black and white"? Nevermind.

If the only Russian ice battle movie you've seen is Alexander Nevsky, then every Russian ice battle movie looks like Alexander Nevsky.
Side note: I have read that the helmets worn by imperial storm troopers and Darth Vader in Star Wars were inspired by the [invading Germans'] helmets in Nevsky

Response by poster: Alexander Nevsky it is. I've marked all three of you answerers as Best Answer because y'all posted at the same time. Thanks!
Matt and Jessamyn, please see to it that those three kind folks get their Interntet Points. Thanks.
BTW, I'm thoroughly impressed that y'all knew the film what with the scant details that I doled out. I applaud ye.
