contacting Jacoby Medical Center

Does anyone know of a phone number for Jacoby Medical Center in Bronx, NY that actually gets answered? I just found out my mother-in-law was found unconscious and taken there on Tuesday. The only number I've found online is (718) 918-5000, and nobody is answering. If anyone has a direct number to a specific department where a human might answer, I'd be very grateful. sorry if this is abusing askme.

I would suggest calling the E/R first; she almost certainly came in that way, and they will have a record of what ward she went to and the phone number to call that ward directly so you can speak to her nurse. E/Rs are quite used to fielding this kind of phone call from worried relatives.

I would certainly think that this would be an appropriate use of AskMe, by the way.

Thanks hatsix, that ER number got me to a person who connected me to someone with info. (Mother-in-law is doing fine, by the way, and savoring the drama).

nb for anyone reading this thread in the future. When all other resources have failed (which thankfully they didn't in this case) a phone number ending in '000' is a very good indication that this is a pbx root number. Just start adding digits in increments of 1s or 10s until you get an answer. This also works very well with customer service numbers that are useless. I'd recommend trying 01, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, etc first since a lot of systems use a higher range. My company for example is xxx-3800 but all the phone numbers are 382x, 383x or 385x when dialed directly.
