How the $%&# can I get DTMF tones to work with Skype??

I'm trying to use Skype to dial in to conference calls for work, check voicemail, etc. but whenever I have to enter numbers on the touch-tone pad the tones that Skype generates are never properly recognized. Skype's help says that the DTMF tones it generates "should be sufficient". Well, they're not. I've found a lot of other people in newsgroups who have the same problem but never a satisfactory solution. Seems odd to me that they can't make this function work better. Any thoughts?

Best answer: try this? It is called KhaosDial.

Wow - if only I had had that while living abroad!

You want something like this a physical device that generates the tones for you. Back in highschool a friend of mine made a red box out of a radioshack one (a redbox was a device for making free payphone calls back in the day)

Response by poster: Kickass, it worked like a charm. I had to put the microphone on mute, though, while I used it.

Thanks!
