Do you have a C-HR? School me
November 7, 2024 7:01 AM
I bought a 2020 Toyota C-HR and am still learning the features. The hatchback has me puzzled.
The car was from a dealer and has had a multipoint inspection etc. It did not come with a manual and I have looked on line to try and find this answer.
Some videos show the hatchback has a automatic opening with the wave of a foot, others show once you depress the button it automatically lifts. Mine does neither. I press the button and have to forcefully lift it up. Is there a setting I am missing? Does this year's model not have the auto feature? It is relatively hard to lift it ( I am a short older woman but still...) but maybe that is normal.

If your liftgate is hard to open you might want to buy new rear door struts. I've installed new ones on several cars, generally pretty easy. Open the rear door, prop it up so it won't move, undo a clip on each end of the door strut, install the new door strut, put the clips back in place, repeat for second strut.
I think those are the right ones for your car, but double check.

You guys rock! I will stop flinging my foot under the car with groceries in my arms.

You can find the manuals online from Toyota, 2020 ch-r owners manual pdf
If you punch in the make & model here
Toyota manuals you can access more documents.

The higher-end trims of the 2024 C-HR do include this feature, but Toyota stopped selling the C-HR in the US after 2022.
