Apologies, I need someone to read my mind.

I heard the song Drown Me by Junie & TheHutFriends the other night and it's reminding me so much of something I've heard before but I can't place it.

Unfortunately I can't even say what precisely about the song is triggering a memory, but I think it's the combo of a simple playful tune and the different vocal styles (of the same singer?..?) like there's a conversation.

I listen to music in a very obnoxious way, where I'll latch onto a song and listen to it 1000 times on repeat in a week (really not an exaggeration) and then never ever listen to it again. I know whatever this memory song is falls into that class, lost forever to the sands of time. Could not possibly tell you genre, time period, or anything else to save my life. Only that it was (probably) within a period of 5-20 years ago that I listened to it and unlikely to be contemporary (as of the time of listening to it).

Quite a long shot I know but metafilter has read my mind before so I figured I'd try. Thank you!

It reminds of a Broken Social Scene song, which may be kind of obscure to pin as the source, but with the way streaming works now, who knows.

Probably a slim chance that this is what you're thinking of but it reminded me of Wanna Be by Dizzee Rascal ft. Lily Allen...

Is it Go Outside by Cults? Or Hey Mami by Sylvan Esso? It definitely reminds me of something too!

With the Katy Perry thread and references to how MetaFilter handled female pop musicians in the past, your brain may have gone to a Paper Planes space?
