Identify this art style

I asked Midjourney for some retro spaceships and it chose this art style. So far someone has suggested acrylic to match the paint, but the form remains a mystery. Something Victorian perhaps?

The aesthetic looks like 20th-century tin toys to me.

To put it pedantically, there is no authoritative determination of style to be made here, because it wasn't created by a human artist with specific stylistic influences.

To put in more vivldly, that image is a puddle of digital vomit formed from the AI's digestion of millions of online images that people referred to as "retro" (or whatever words you used in your prompt). That's all it is.

Artifice_Eternity has a point, but also, some painters of Contemporary Pop Surrealism (Mark Ryden, other people you'd see in the magazine Hi-Fructose) often paint things like this in a style like this. They are definitely using traditional painterly techniques, though.

I would guess it was copying cheap color lithographs, which were the mass market reproduction technology through a lot of the Victorian era. Cheap enough for children’s books and posters and advertising.
