Substance and smut

Seeking smart, well-plotted smut. I saw this question and this is exactly the kind of thing I want, but I want to filter out the cozy recs. I'd also like to filter out fantasy and historical; please, no dragons or twee dialects. Magic is OK though, as are other genre elements (mystery, sf, etc.). I definitely prefer modern, and nontraditional gender roles. What's new and dirty in the genre?

I don’t read contemporary as much but I do think Talia Hibbert is fun and she had a recent re-release last month that I enjoyed.

I'm not a very experienced romance reader but some I've read lately that I think are contemporary, doing something interesting and I would not call cozy:

The Idea of You by Robinne Lee
You Made a Fool of Death with your Beauty by Akwaeke Emezi
The View Was Exhausting by Mikaella Clements & Onjuli Datta

Penny Aimes's "For The Love of April French". One character is a trans woman.
