Impossible singer/songwriter locator challenge accepted?

When I was in college in the early aughts at McGill University in Montreal. I used to attend a folk singalong at the Yellow Door Cafe. There were two women, also McGill or Concordia student, my age who performed together as Allicide (or maybe Alicide?). I loved their music. I want to find it now. It seems...impossible? Is this in fact the case?

Other details-- googling Alicide gets me nowhere. I used to have a homemade CD of their music but I'm not sure if it ever ended up online and if so how to find it. I don't remember either woman's name. Are there other ways to search I'm not thinking of? Or is this, in fact, not solvable?

Best answer: Is it these folks, Andrea Simms-Karp (Naviger) and Lesley Hoyles?

Best answer: Well, you just made my day, because believe it or not, I am one member of that long-ago band :) I don't play a ton these days, so having someone remember our music from 20ish years ago is really lovely.

I think I probably still have some old CDs lying around - MeMail me and I can figure out where to find them and get one to you.

This story is just adorable, and so now I want to hear the music that would still tug a listener's heart twenty years later, too! Is it available online anywhere? (I have to believe that getting CDs past the Border Pines would be a pain in the neck.)

I'm going to see if I can upload the CD - will update here if I manage it!

Don't forget that MeFi Music exists -- see the link up top? :7)

Not much protection or anything, but...it's there if you just need a little hosting. *shrug*

Poor nonane - immediately came up with the correct answer to an obscure question and isn't even the best answer in the thread.

Response by poster: Jacquilynne- I got so excited by response #2 that I didn’t click the first link. Hat tipped and answer marked as best! There is clearly very little AskMetaFilter can’t figure out…

Inspired by the fact that I think half this thread lives in Ottawa, I have posted a proposed meetup.

Best answer: It almost took my own Ask, but I managed to upload the album from an old iPod and pop it onto YouTube for nostalgic enjoyment.

This was recorded in two 3-hour sessions, live off the floor, while I had a very bad cold/laryngitis. I was living in Montreal and the other half of the band was in Ottawa, so scheduling was super tricky, and we were broke students. We had a lot of fun, though, and our live shows often involved matching t-shirts and other gimmicks that our 19-year old selves thought were pretty hilarious - folk musicians, we crack ourselves up.

I also uploaded my one-and-only solo album that I released four years later, and others have found, Andrea's recent music is more readily available online already!

(And sorry for stealing your excellent internet sleuthing thunder, nonane!)

Say, sabotagerabbbit, would you prefer us to buy this on Bandcamp, so you can get some money for it?

That is very kind, wenestvedt, but I'm okay making it available to you fine folks (and the broader internet), given the long time lapse since recording! Thanks for checking.
