Pinterest isn't letting me update my profile. Can you help me figure out why?

I've been trying to update my Pinterest profile. I open edit profile, I make the desired changes which include my substituting the URL of one of my three blogs for the one that's currently there, I click save, and then I get this error message:

Parameter 'listed_website_url' with the value 'http://http://nameoftheblogthatwastherebefore.ca/' is not a valid URL format.

Pinterest won't allow me to make any changes to my profile other than change my profile pic because of that supposed error. But the thing is, that url is no longer in the website field. I've tried repeatedly over the course of two days to update my profile by trying various things:

-- different ways of deleting the old url, i.e., using backspace alone, hitting CTRL+A or highlighting the text and then using cut, etc.
-- leaving the website field empty
-- manually fixing the url that's there
-- deleting the old url and then copying and pasting the correct version of the url that's there into the field

Nothing has worked. I get the same error message every time. I googled the matter and found a Reddit comment in which the Redditor claimed that they couldn't claim a website on a laptop or desktop, only on their cell or tablet, and if that's true I'm stuck because I only have a laptop. Help!

Not to suggest the obvious, but are you sure you have the url formatted correctly? It looks to me like Pinterest is objecting to the http://http:// as there should only be one http:// there. It might be that Pinterest is adding a http:// behind the scenes, in which case you could try putting in just www.websitename.com, without the http://, and see if it likes that better.

Response by poster: As I said above, I'm getting the error message about the old url even when I delete it completely and leave the website field blank, so that's not it.

Often I find the easiest to get around this type of problem is to change platforms. If you are editing on mobile, try desktop or vice versa. A shocking number of low usage elements of major websites are simply broken but it can vary across platforms.

Response by poster: As I said in my original question, I thought the problem might be that I couldn't edit my profile via laptop and my laptop is my only internet access device. This did prove to be the case and a very helpful MeFite edited the url and screen name fields for me on their phone at my request, and after that was corrected I was able to edit my user profile myself.

Problem solved!
