Suggest movies that are fun and entertaining in the same way as the Final Destination series

After never seeing any of them, I finally binged the whole series last year and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I like a lot of different kinds of movies, and horror especially, but the tone struck by these films was a really delightful mix of over the top silliness, surprising/creative kills and just the right level of self-referential twists.

What are some other films that are like this? They don't have to be horror, but the should be relatively light and fun.

I'm already perusing this similar thread, but I'm sure there are a lot of new things in the last 10+ years.

Cabin in the Woods, 100%. If you don’t know anything about it, please just watch it without looking it up! Available on Max, or for rent.

A few newish ones that come to mind:

The Fear Street Trilogy (on Netflix)
Orphan: First Kill
Freaky (same director as Happy Death Day)
Ready or Not

Not a movie, but the Chucky (based on Child's Play) tv series might hit the same notes of fun, creative kills, self-referential twists.

I think you would really like The Hunt! Betty Gilpin is awesome and hilarious.

I really enjoyed last year's Deadstream. It's about an obnoxious online influencer guy who livestreams himself spending the night in a haunted house, and of course it turns out to actually be haunted and he's shitting his pants in terror, but everytime he tries to leave his viewers donate a ton of bitcoin and he's so broke he has to stay. So much fun. I think it did the best job of balancing actually scary horror with gut bursting comedy since 2014's Housebound (which I would also recommend!)

With the caveat that it’s been a while since I saw it and I’ve never seen a Final Destination movie, but your description made me think of the movie Crank with Jason Statham. Just intensely ridiculous nonstop action that doesn’t take itself seriously.

Not horror but I think a lot of people find similar elements to enjoy in the Fast & Furious series.

A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place II come to mind.

Already mentioned but the Child's Play series + Chucky TV show has been consistently (except for the remake/reboot a few years back that exists entirely separately) in the hands of the same creator so it's all basically one big continuity. They know exactly the kind of show they are making while not being afraid of taking some interesting turns with the characters and storylines. If you're on the fence, just watch Bride of Chucky.

While I wouldn't strictly recommend the whole series, Friday the 13th Part 6 is tonally probably what you are looking for. It's the first one that leaned into more comedic elements and isn't afraid of having explicit fun with the concept of Jason coming back from the dead and killing a bunch of teens.

New Nightmare is the proto-meta-horror movie by Wes Craven that is also really worth a watch. I like the first Nightmare on Elm Street, but not a huge fan of the rest of them but New Nightmare is very clever in casting actors as themselves and being a story about the power of belief making the fictional character of Freddy Krueger reality.

Seconding the two Crank movies, which I absolutely adore, and adding the three films in Jason Statham's Transporter series. Delightful.

Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil has a lot of over the top silliness for a horror movie.
