Help liberate my left foot from a boot with a broken zipper

Was trying on a new pair of boots this morning at home, and (not really) hilarity ensued when the zipper separated below the pull (which is still firmly attached to both sides), trapping my (thick ankled) feet firmly inside.

I can slide the zipper back down a couple of inches but not nearly enough to get my foot out. Have tried lubricating the teeth but the boots are tight enough that I can't even force the lower sides of the zipper together. Any hacks for getting this off ideally without breaking/taking apart the zipper pull? Zipper is a heavy-gauge solid metal Excella, boots are backzips, zipper is approx. 6in / 15cm long.

Many thanks in advance!

Best answer: Do you have a pair of pliers for a little more leverage on the pull? You'd want to go carefully, but if you could get a bit more downward force going with pliers while pulling at the top end of the zipper to help keep it straight, you might be able to get it down further.
