Multivitamin Questions

Please help rec a multivitamin that I don't have to take 6x a day.

I've been trying to find a multivitamin that works for me. After some effort I've gotten into a routine where I actually eat breakfast and can take vitamins that aren't in gummy form.

This new multivitamin I have says I should take 6 a day which seems to defeat the point of a multivitamin. Any recs for a quality 1x or 2x a day multivitamin for a middle aged, vegan, overweight cis man? Only requirement is that the capsules are vegan, otherwise open to any suggestions.

I’m not doubting that your current vitamins say to take them six times a day, but how could that possibly be necessary? Can you think of a single food-derived nutrient that needs to be consumed six discrete times a day for any plausible reason? I can’t. Can you take your “six times a day” vitamins twice a day (so, two triple doses per day)? That should work fine. Barring that, just buy a multi vitamin that only calls for one or two pills per day.

If you have access to Costco, their Kirkland Organic multivitamin says it's vegan and you only need one a day. It's a pill though, unsure if you needed it to be a capsule.

No preference here.

What are your must-haves in terms of the supplement, because you're vegan or for other reasons?

Is it chasing calcium, or B vitamins, or something else?

Many of us have multivitamins that we take once a day and forget about it, so I think it sounds like you have specific nutritional needs.

For me, I take calcium, separate from multivitamin, twice a day. Sometimes there are formulations for three times a day. I've never seen one for six times a day but I'm sure there are 'quit your job and take vitamins full time' supplements out there.

In any case, it would help steer recommendations for what you are most concerned about.

Or is it specifically 'it's hard to find multis that are vegan?'

Best answer: Ritual multivitamins (available at Target or from their website) are vegan (and on the expensive side).

Country Life (website, or sold in a lot of natural/health food stores) has a (slightly) cheaper option.

This person likes these (Amazon).

Nope. Just avoiding gelatin.

Best answer: Solgar's VM-75 is two capsules with a meal; Doctor's Best is 3 capsules with a meal. The "Kirkland Signature USDA Organic Multivitamin" linked above by Rufous-headed Towhee heehee is 80 tablets/21.99 at Costco; 80 tablets/24.80 on Amazon. (There are non-gelatin gummy multivitamins with once-a-day dosing: Flamingo (2 gummies), Naturelo (4 gummies)).

Mod note: Comment removed. Let's just stick to answering the OP's question and avoid debating about vitamins, thanks!
