How can I cast Netflix from my Android phone to my PC laptop?

Via Chromecast, I can cast from my Android (Google) phone to my TV, which has a Chromecast device on it. I can also cast from my Lenovo laptop to my TV, via the Chromecast extension on my laptop. HOWEVER, I want to do something else:

I want to cast Netflix from my Android phone to my Lenovo PC. The question is, how can I make "My Lenovo PC" an option when I tap the Chromecast icon on my phone? right now the only option is "TV."

The name for what you want to do is to make your laptop act as a "Chromecast receiver", but unfortunately, Chromecast doesn't natively support this possibility.

As far as I know, the only way to do it is with third-party software such as AirServer (haven't tried it myself).

Possibly dumb question: if you want to watch Netflix on the laptop, why not tether it to the phone?

Just making sure the simple answer has been ruled out... Is there a reason why accessing Netflix.com on the device in question is not an option?

Not possible. Chromecast device requires a TV with HDCP 1.3 or higher. PC has no built-in HDCP.

Bingo! Because of some STUPID PASSWORD nonsense I need another person's input and time and possibly a couple of aggravating phone calls to resolve. I thought I could figure out a workaround.

apparently not.

Short answer: no.

Long answer: no, but you could screen cast.

1. Run/install and Android emulator on your computer. (Like Bluestacks)
2. Install the Google Home App in your virtual android instance.
3. Make sure that your phone and laptop/virtual android are connected to the same wifi network.
4. Use the Screen Cast option from your phone to the Google Home App.
5. Navigate to the Netflix video and play it on the phone. Set to full screen.

Another thing you could do is install a screen mirroring app like AirDroid. Btw, I make no claims about the quality of AirDroid. It was the first result when I searched for screen mirroring apps on the Play Store.

With either solution you're going to have a result that doesn't play in a native resolution or aspect ratio to your monitor. It'll be bigger than your phone, but not full screen like when you cast to your TV or wherever. Maybe that's fine in the short term until you can sort out the password situation, but if it is just a short term fix you need then I'd do a free trial with a netflix competitor and cancel it before it moves into the billing cycle.

Can you plug a chromecast device into your laptop/pc? Does it have the necessary port? Then cast to it.

@jsm: not possible. Chromecast is for plugging into an HDMI input ports (on monitors or TVs). (Or in OP's case, it's built into the TV?)

PC's (and laptops) don't have HDMI input ports. They have HDMI OUTPUT ports.

OP, if you have the password saved on the mobile browser, then it's very possible it's been sync'ed to the desktop provided you use the same Google account for both.

In any case, it is possible to go into Chrome's options and dig up the password for Netflix, if you want to try that way.
