Unusual or weird hotels and BNBs in the PA/NY/NJ area?

I would like to plan a weekend getaway from Philadelphia, but we have limited vacation time so our destination needs to be no more than a few hours away by car. I think I like the idea of getting a hotel or bed and breakfast someplace outside of the city, but it needs to be pet-friendly (we have a small dog) and preferably it would be a little strange. A bit goth, ideally, but we're broad-minded. Trip advisor hasn't been too helpful, or at least its concept of unusual doesn't line up with mine. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

First thing that came to mind was the Roxbury Hotel, if 4 hours isn’t too long of a drive. Unfortunately they don’t allow pets, but perhaps you can find a nearby dog hotel to board your dog while you’re there.

How 'bout a supposedly haunted inn on a small island that's home to a herd of fainting goats? Their site says they are friendly to some small dogs, as long as you call in advance. https://www.faintinggoatislandinn.com/ (I've never stayed here, but it looks awesome.)

Aside from that, apparently there is actually a whole Haunted History Trail if you're looking for places that might be a little creepy in upstate NY. Several options are shown here: https://www.newyorkupstate.com/places-to-stay/2021/10/we-dare-you-to-spend-the-hight-at-these-haunted-upstate-ny-hotels.html. Unfortunately, Wing's Castle (which has a dungeon room!) does not allow pets. Others on the list might, though!

Tina’s Dog House, Victorian Charm Inn, Mercersburg Inn, Fishes and Loaves B&B are some of the Pennsylvania B&Bs within 4 hrs of Philadelphia via BringFido.com; search "hotels" or "vacation rentals," too.

I was thinking Cape May for Victorian hotels. I love the area, though I haven't stayed in any of the lovely old places. This site may show you something you'd like.
