Sleep Number beds and 3rd party adjustable bedframes?

Can you use a third-party adjustable bed frame with a Sleep Number bed? Do any of you have experience with such a setup?

I have a non-adjustable Queen-sized Sleep Number bed, and I like it okay except for the fact that it's not adjustable, which I'm hoping to get to help with GERD symptoms that I'm having, and since I sleep alone a twin XL mattress is going to be more useful to me, given that I can only sleep on one half of the Queen-sized bed at a time. Sleep Number offers their own adjustable bed frames, but only for Queen-size or above (that I can tell anyway), and for an amazingly expensive price, which is why I'm looking at pairing a TwinXL mattress to a third-party adjustable frame.

I like the Sleep Number mattress as it allows me to adjust my firmness to my mood, which while I don't adjust often, I feel like I'd miss the ability to do so. I tend to sleep with it set pretty soft, around 25-35, and I sleep on my back with a pillow under my knees as kind of a stand-in for an adjustable frame, but that doesn't elevate my torso, which is what I need to help control GERD symptoms. It's possible that the adjustable frame would make the Sleep Number adjustability less important, so I'd also accept suggestions for a fairly soft mattress that sleeps relatively cool.

Suggestions?

A third option is to get a piece of foam cut as a wedge pillow. I have an adjustable bed at my home and I love it, but I spend some months a year at my mother's home, and there I have a piece of foam cut in a wedge and it works almost as well as the adjustable for my purposes, especially since you already have a pillow for under your knees.

It's helpful that you already have a larger bed for this, because you can set up one side with the wedge and pillow and then if you need to roll over and sleep on your side, you can just use the other side of the bed.

Your local foam shop will probably already have some of these pre-cut and if not, they will cut one for you. I didn't know local foam shops were things that existed until I wanted this item, but they are out there and I would imagine that any town of significant size will have one.

As unhelpful as listicles usually are, that one clued me into other brands that do adjustable firmness beds that also have adjustable bases and I purchased a TwinXL Saatva Solaire mattress and base that checks off pretty much all my needs and has been a wonderful upgrade at a still-not-cheap-but-relatively-reasonable price.

I've had a wedge pillow but unfortunately I could never get it to be comfortable enough to get a restful sleep which is why I really wanted to go for an adjustable base.
