Toothpaste with fluoride, without sodium lauryl sulfate?
May 10, 2022 8:47 PM
How did toothpaste get so complicated? Oof. Prices at my local grocery store are through the roof, so I'm shopping online, but searches keep turning up the opposite of what I want. I want toothpaste WITH fluoride but without SLS.
What should I be looking for?
According to their website Sensodyne pronamel line does not contain SLS. The Gentle Whitening from that line has fluoride.

This is very hard to search for, even if you put "with fluoride" in quotes you still get fluoride-free results at the top. But the answer is: Jason brand anti-cavity toothpaste. Three flavors, SLS-free, WITH fluoride. You can get it on Amazon but it's also likely to be carried at natural food stores and pharmacies. Sprouts, Whole Foods, and Pharmaca all carry it.

I used to use Sensodyne Pronamel but last year I switched to Smyle toothpaste tablets with fluoride, delivered to my door. Meets all the reqs, travels well, no plastic and more affordable in the long run.

Biotene fits the bill too! If you are looking to move away from SLS and other detergents due to dry mouth or canker sores, it's highly recommended.

I like Hello, Sensodyne and Tom's of Maine. For the latter I use the Luminous White which has fluoride even if it isn't mentioned on the website. I just checked the actual tube.

nthing Sensodyne pronamel. I use the "daily protection" pronamel. I also like it b/c it's mint-y but not like overpowering mint flavor that some brands have.

Trader Joe's All Natural Anticavity Peppermint Toothpaste has you covered if you live near a TJ's. Fluoridated, but no anything else.
A warning: I like the stuff because it doesn't have artificial sweeteners or an extreme blast of menthol, but my partner rightly asserts that it tastes like straight-up baking soda with a dash of peppermint oil.

Seconding Trader Joe's, which is affordable and good. They do have a non-fluoride option, so just make sure you pick up the right one.

Another vote for sensodyne pronamel, and also my partner just got the Tom's luminous white so can corroborate it has fluoride. Not all sensodynes omit SLS, not all Tom's have fluoride.
Sensodyne repair and protect also meets your requirements (it's the one with novamin)
I have used repair and protect, but nb in the US it does not have novamin but DOES have SLS.

If you have a Whole Foods nearby and are okay buying things from them, their 365 brand Peppermint Fluoride Toothpaste doesn't have SLS.

I've been using the Burt's Bees Extra While Fluoride Toothpaste for a couple years now because I can consistently find it at Target. I subbed Hello when BB was out of stock recently and it was fine too. I haven't had luck finding the fluoride Tom's in stock and I think their flavors are weird, but YMMV.
