I'm gonna buy my daughter an awesome Bowie shirt. Help me make it the AWESOMEST one! She wears a US women's 10. References to individual songs welcome as well as the artist as a whole.

As a connoisseur, I need more information.

1) Does she want official, fan-made, or licensed? (The official merch coming from the estate at present...isn't great.)
2) What Bowie era does she want? Glam, 70's Berlin, 80's stadium, etc.? Is there an album that she particularly likes?
3) Does she want new or vintage?

Response by poster: She finds the official merchandise uninspiring, so is making a broader search. Her favorite is Ziggy Stardust, but interesting or clever graphics from any era would be considered. New is preferable. Thank you!

It is a little tricky because of the licensing situation--starting in the 90's, the Bowie company/estate bought back a lot of the rights to his photos, associated graphics, etc. And a lot of photographers who still own their photos do pursue their trademarks. So, what is out there has to be a "transformational work" though in my limited experience the estate is pretty chill about sending takedown notices (everywhere except YouTube.) We all just hope the graphic designers working on the official merch get a clue.

Anyway, that is not what you asked. Sorry I took so long to get back to you. Etsy is a good place to go for this. Hot Topic had some good ones once upon a time; I didn't see anything on their site.

I like this understated concert poster look.

This is a pretty good one for more of a graphic look.

To me, this is a really classic image that is very "band tee" if that makes sense.

While it's post-Ziggy, I am a big fan of the mugshot image.

If these don't work, check in with the Wonderworld message board, which is still alive. (It pains me to do this, as a Teenage Wildlife message board veteran, but it is what it is.)
