Photo album print service recommendations?

As a follow-up to this question about organizing a large family photo collection, I am looking for a high-quality digital-to-print photo album service. I've happily used Printique (previously AdoramaPix) for single prints in the past but have never done a full album before. Quality is a much higher priority than price for this project.

Must have:
  • Several choices of cover materials and paper types
  • Lay-flat binding
  • Flexible layout options
  • Ability to add titles, text blocks, and photo annotations
  • Layout project can be saved and edited incrementally (I have a lot of photos, this won't be an all-in-one-day effort) and the software isn't a UX disaster
Nice to have:
  • Very basic inline photo editing tools like crop and straighten (but I can do any editing separately if needed).
  • Shipping to both the US and Europe
  • Desktop app (MacOS) in addition to web app

Blurb is not so much a photo album print service as much as a book printing service, but they do layflat photobooks.

I have not used them but I made a note of their forgettable name when I came across them because their lay flat books look nice: Zno.
